JAZZ WEEK 2010 The Philadelphia Jazz Orchestra will be hosting their 4th Annual PJO Jazz Week for interested student musicians entering grades 6 through 12. The program will be entirely education-based and will conclude with a concert featuring all the student ensembles and a performance from the Philadelphia Jazz Orchestra. This year the program offered in two sessions during two separate weeks. Each week is entirely independent of the other and is comprised of different music and different clinicians. Last year’s clinicians were jazz greats Dennis DiBlasio, George Rabbai among others. Students may attend the June/July Jazz Week, the August Jazz Week or both with a discounted price for the second week.

ABOUT PJO JAZZ WEEK
Our Summer program is geared towards the education of instrumental and vocal music students entering grades 6 through 12 regardless of their ability level. PJO Jazz Week will consist of large ensemble instruction, small group lessons, master classes, theory and history. All students will be placed by ability level on the first day of the program. PJO Jazz Week is about learning and fun. Students do not need to worry about their placement screenings. Placement screenings are designed to see what areas of the program will benefit them most. Tuition for PJO Jazz Week is only $400 for one week or $650 for both weeks.
PJO JAZZ WEEK is under the direction of Philadelphia Jazz Orchestra Director, Joe Bongiovi. Mr. Bongiovi earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Filmscoring from Berklee College of Music and a Master’s Degree in Music Education from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Mr. Bongiovi currently teaches jazz band at Princeton High School and is an avid composer and clinician. Other professional staff members will be announced via philadelphiajazzorchestra.com and introduced at the beginning of Jazz Week. In addition, students will also have the opportunity to work with select members of the Philadelphia Jazz Orchestra for sectionals and during large group instruction.
